In addition to our research activities, Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. supports the institutes’ participation in EU and other international R&D&I programmes, coordinates the EURAXESS researcher mobility programme at national level as well as conducts the operation and professional management Brussels KFI HunOR Office with a countrywide mandate, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice.

The activities of Bay Zoltán Non-profit Ltd. also includes the state-run incubation of small and medium enterprises.

The Consorzio Per l’AREA di Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica di Trieste, a public national research body under the aegis of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research established in 1978, acts as an intermediary between research, business communities and the public administration.

The Consorzio manages and promotes AREA Science Park, the largest science and technology park in Italy. In its three campuses in Padriciano and Basovizza (both in Trieste) and Gorizia, AREA Science Park hosts 94 tenant companies and institutions (10 research centres and 84 SMEs) with over 2.406 staff in 2013. Besides coordinating more than 50 research centres in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region (north-east Italy), for several years AREA has managed projects in the sectors of innovation and technology transfer, multi-level capacity building and advanced training for companies and the public administration,knowledge transfer and international networking, developing specific competences in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable development, accruing very significant know-how and first-hand experience in the development of measures addressed to legislative and technological innovation.

AREA is also the regional contact point for Enterprise Europe Network and has long-established relations with IASP, the worldwide network of science parks, EUROCHAMBRES, and several other relevant stakeholders.

The Belarusian Association of Industrial Power Engineers "BelAPE" is a voluntary association of legal entities – commercial organizations, producers of energy equipment, technologies, materials and services. BelAPE was established to coordinate their entrepreneurial activities, as well as to represent and protect their common property interests. Chief power engineering specialists of the well-known Belarussian enterprises are members of the BelAPE Council. BelAPE is a nonprofit organization.

in Ukraine Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas was founded in 1967 as the only higher educational institution in Ukraine of petroleum profile  covering all sectors from prospection to storage and transportation of oil and gas. Currently around 8 000 students are involved in the educational process at 19 BSc and 29 MSc programmes along with approx. 200 PhD students. The university has around 700 persons of academic and research staff. University research outcomes dealing with a technology transfer activities in energy industry are well-known among experts both from regional and international oil and gas companies. A number of research conferences are organized by university every year. All research and development work conducted at the university is done under the supervision of the Research and Development Institute of Oil and Gas Power Engineering and Ecology.

The International Centre for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES Centre) is a non-governmental and a non-profit organization. The SDEWES Centre was established after successful organization of four Dubrovnik Conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems with the purpose to provide a wider platform for communication and exchange of ideas between scientists and researchers that promotes multidisciplinary approaches to sustainability.

The main objectives and purpose of the establishment of the SDEWES Centre are organization of international SDEWES conference and development of unique research platform capable to form various international and multidisciplinary research and development innovation teams that will provide comprehensive R&D activities, assessment and consultation on the research subjects that represent the most important challenges of sustainable development. In its R&D and innovation activities international members, scientist and professionals from broad range of disciplines of sustainable development of energy, water and environment systems are engaged.

The SDEWES Centre promotes sustainable development of energy, water and environment systems through organization of courses, summer schools, public lectures, seminars and workshops and by providing professional opinion on important issues of sustainability.

CREATE-NET is an international research consortium based in northern Italy and founded in 2003 by some of the most prestigious universities and research centers in Europe (Technion, University of Trento, Fondazione Bruno Kessler), which employs more than 100 people. By bringing together major academic institutions, corporations and research actors from around the world, CREATE-NET is engaged in combining highest quality research, addressing telecommunications and advanced services challenges, with experimentation on a unique real life testing and experimentation infrastructure in Trentino. CREATE-NET’s objective is to sponsor the highest quality research and innovation, and help convert talent and human capital into patents and start-ups for promoting European high-tech competitiveness, with the aim of building a global platform of scientific collaboration and experimentation in communications-driven technologies and applications.

CREATE-NET has participated in 8 projects in FP6, three of them directly coordinated (BIONETS, ONE and SAMBA), and is currently involved in 20 FP7 project.

The center has significant collaborations with leading institutions in the US (MIT and Georgia Tech), China (Tsinghua and BUPT), South Africa (SAP/Meraka) and Israel (Technion).

CREATE-NET has developed very strong collaborations, via bilateral projects, with major industrial stakeholders (Cisco Systems, Orange-FT, Siemens, Ericsson) and has developed several patents that have been successfully transferred to the industry. Recently it has set-up three promising spin-offs (U-Hopper, eXrade, Intelinks) that are now capitalising on previous research efforts.

CREATE-NET’s research objectives include a combination of scientific topics and the application of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to specific domains. In order to better respond to the research objectives with a support which is consistent to its research and development activities, the Centre has recently undergone a reorganization featuring Technical Research and Application Areas.

ICEG European Center is an independent economic research institute based in Budapest, Hungary. The Center was founded in 2001 by Dr. Pál Gáspár. ICEG European Center focuses its activities on research, macroeconomic and sectoral analyses and forecasts, policy advice and the dissemination of its research output through conferences and publications. Its research projects concentrate mostly on analysing economic developments in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and in the Baltics - in other terms, the Eastern EU Member States (EU8+2). Additionally, ICEG European Center has several main topics and themes. European macroeconomic issues, as well as empirical and policy oriented research on economic growth, spreading of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the economy and in the society, with particular attention to European, EU8+2 and SEE developments. Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is a legal non-profit governmental entity organized under private law, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Greek Ministry of Education, LifelongTraining and Religious Affairs. It was founded in 2000. CERTH's premises are located in the area of the Technological Park of Thessaloniki.

Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Centre (EE&EP)

The Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Centre (EE&EP) has many years of experience ofworking in the energy sphere, by carrying out the business advisory/consulting services and the practical works for supporting the development of the principals of energy efficiency and utilization of the renewable energy resources (RES) in Georgia. The Centre is : elaborating the energy projects with eco-friendly technologies; conducting energy audits in the buildings and in the industrial enterprises (SMEs), assisting the companies in identifying, developing and implementing their own energy efficiency measures. EE&EP participated in several international projects carried out in the energy efficiency field by UNDP/GEF, USAID, WB and EBRD in Georgia. Some recent projects especially to be noted  and conducted by EU:

  • „Preparation of Municipality of Tbilisi for Covenant of Mayors” - elaboration of Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for Tbilisi City Hall, that will show how to reach the commitment to reduce CO2 emissions up to 20 % to 2020;
  • “Development of ESCO Business in Georgia “;
  • “Energy Saving Initiative in the Building Sector in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ESIB)".

In addition to practical works EE&EP’s activities cover a wide range of issues with purposes to support the increase of public awareness in principals of the sustainable development by publishing articles, leaflets, brochures, appearing on television. EE&EP, with his considerable experience, is always trying to promote energy efficiency, increase the share of the renewable energy in energy mix of the country, as key priorities in the national energy strategy of Georgia.
